Please note: this job ad is not for a specific job, but for expressions of interest for those creative freelance professionals keen to hear about new opportunities as they come in. If you’ve not applied to us before and you’re keen to hear about new temporary assignments as they come through and you meet the criteria listed below, then please feel free to apply.
Whether we like it or not, Microsoft Office requirements are not uncommon across in-house studios, government studios (especially in regards to accessibility documents) and even in some design studios who have corporate clients. My own first hand experience is that many designers may have some experience with Microsoft Office but are reluctant to share that for fear that they may end up with more of it. For those that are willing to do that kind of work though, it can often prove to be a worthwhile string in their bow to promote.
When it comes to Microsoft Office, I tend to find that it can often fall into one of two camps; those that are more creative than technical, and those that are more technical than creative. I'm open to hearing from either, especially if you walk that fine line between the two.
Additionally, you may have experience in Word or PowerPoint or Excel, or perhaps you have experience across all three.
It's important to qualify here that I am only keen to hear from people who have intermediate to advanced level skills. In the past I have had people tell me that they know how to use Word but on further investigation, their experience was pretty much 'cut and paste'. If you don't know how to create a template or a presentation deck, then your level of skill may not be at the level we require.
For PowerPoint creatives, I'd like to see that you have experience with:
- the creation of multiple slide presentations, either working from scratch or implementing an existing design.
- an understanding of embedding in video and audio (and their limitations).
- an understanding of slide transitions and animations.
- an understanding of how to create a master template.
For Microsoft Office freelancers, I'd like to see that you have experience with:
- The creation of, or working with, existing templates in order to make changes
- Working with headers and footers
- Creating and applying styles
- Creation of master templates
- Understanding of Macros
If you're interested in being considered for these opportunities, then email across your most current CV and up-to-date folio that showcases suitable examples to lawrence@creativerecruiters.com.au. As suitable opportunities come in, I'll be in touch to explore if they might be of interest to you and go through the next steps.
Please note, while we would love to be able to get back to everyone, we will only respond to shortlisted applicants. We are only keen to hear from people who are Australian Residents or who have the appropriate Australian Working VISAs. Sadly, we won't be able to assist people based outside of Australia. A periodic rate of pay applies for this role.
