We are proud to partner with our client, the Australian Housing and Urban Research Institute, a not-for-profit organisation providing independent research services for government and the high profile housing and homelessness sectors, seeking a versatile Mid-weight Graphic Designer to join its team.
The primary purpose of AHURI is the delivery of high-quality, peer reviewed primary research across housing, homelessness, cities and urban policy arenas; disseminating findings to government, industry and the community; and bringing together diverse stakeholders to engage with the AHURI evidence-base on key issues affecting the sector.
Core activities include:
Delivering the National Housing Research Program on behalf of the Commonwealth and all state/territory governments
Developing and implementing a National Cities Research Program
Publishing research reports on the AHURI website and disseminating research findings through a range of editorial outputs
Delivering a national conference and events program including webinars, seminars and conferences including the biennial National Housing Conference and National Homelessness Conference
Providing a range custom-designed research services to clients via our Professional Services team
Undertaking a series of capacity building measures that develop the skills and resources of the housing, homelessness and urban policy research community in Australia
Providing high-level advice to governments at all levels.
This position offers a unique opportunity for collaboration with a team, involving the formatting of academic reports, creation of visual content, and active participation in brand development. Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with the Research and Consulting teams to present research reports, and format layouts and visuals accordingly.
Create visually appealing and effective content designs that clearly communicate complex information.
Develop data visualisations and infographics to enhance report presentations.
Apply typography and layout skills to format long-form academic reports with meticulous attention to detail.
Contribute to brand development by implementing and maintaining brand style guidelines and developing and maintaining templates.
Design digital graphics for promotion across various platforms, including web, email marketing, and social media.
Produce engaging visuals for event and webinar promotion, such as signage and posters.
Requirements:
A strong and diverse portfolio showcasing a range of design projects, demonstrating creativity, technical skill, and the ability to solve design challenges.
A Designer who has worked in government or corporate industries (advantage - highly desired)
Strong understanding of layouts, with experience in formatting academic reports, annual reports, long text documents, and brand identity design.
Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite software.
Proficient in Power Point, Microsoft Office, Word.
Familiarity with Canva (desired).
Excellent communication skills to comprehend and incorporate feedback from team members.
Expecting to start end of January / beginning of February.
