- an independent, values-driven organisation
- a growth mindset and plenty of opportunities for learning and development
- high quality content and staff to work with
Then you might just want to stick around for the next (more than a) few dot points. They pride themselves on holding leaders to account and exercising the power of free press - which you would be a part of! You’ll need to be skilled at building trust and understanding your team’s strengths, bringing a strong sense of collaboration and focus. You’ll have support from above too, regularly liaising with the Editor in Chief, Managing Director and CEO.
They have everything you could be looking for in a modern workplace, including:
- Early finishes, with usual hours of work being 8-4
- Hybrid and flexible working
- Generous leave options (including birthdays off and inclusive parental leave)
- They actually listen to what their employees have to say, and make changes based on regular surveys and check-ins
- A personal learning and development budget
- Mental health focus, with accredited mental health first-aiders
Ready to hit apply? You might want to find out what you would be doing first:
- Managing a small team of skilled journalists
- Working with Senior Management on growth strategy and driving readership
- Either a lot or a little writing, depending on your skills and passion
- Fostering strong media and government connections

- Someone who understands the mechanisms of federal and state government, having either worked in or with the sector
- A skilled editor and writer with experience in journalism and publishing
- A strong leader who knows how to nurture the growth of writers. You don’t have to have lead a huge team, but you need to have successfully managed at least one direct report.
- Up to date with the news cycle and digital media trends
